Fall may be on the horizon, but let’s not fool ourselves into thinking that summer is over just yet, oh no -- there’s plenty of life in everyone’s favorite season. And what better way to spend a glorious summer’s day than by setting forth on an adventure of one kind of another? In Leesville, there are a handful of exciting days out that await visitors to this corner of Louisiana. If you’re paying us a visit, make sure that you pack some comfortable walking shoes and an adventurous spirit.

Myths and legends

This is Wild West territory, or at least it was, and that means that there’s a whole lot of tales and legends doing the rounds. If you have access to a vehicle during your stay, you’ll be able to drive along the Myths and Legends Byway, and recreate some of the landmark trails that outlaws and gunslingers used to use, passing points of interest along the way.

Visit the Cemetary

There is beauty in visiting cemeteries, and especially the Talbert-Pierson Cemetery, which is full of stories from the past. Located in nearby Cravens, it contains thirteen wooden grave houses that date back some 130 years -- they’re unique for this country.

To the Forest

For an utterly natural adventure, take a trip to Kisatchie National Forest, which is both beautiful and home to endangered species. It’s a good example of Louisiana’s backcountry.

After all that adventuring, you’ll want to return for a solid night of rest at the best hotel in Leesville. At the SureStay Hotel Leesville, you’ll have everything you need to fully enjoy your visit away from home. We offer our guests a comfortable and affordable room in a variety of sizes, as well as amenities that include a complimentary continental breakfast, a pool and hot tub, and free high-speed wifi.
